For some of you new guys, a little history of the GI TNGL

Our fun little golf league was renamed in 2007 in memory of George Irons who died suddenly in September of 2006.  George was one of the league founders many years ago as the Knights of Columbus Thursday Night Golf League.  He was instrumental in the growth and set up of the league having served as President for many years and as chairman of the rules, tournament and various other commitees.

George Irons (1951 - 2006)
Having only known him for a relatively short time, I am hardly the one to chronicle the accolades of our Georgie Boy. Grandfather, father, husband and friend to many, few may appreciate his charitable work with the Knights of Columbus and building from scratch a very successful business that supported family and friends close to him.  A navy man who enjoyed a good 'ball busting' whether on the giving or receiving end, generous almost to a fault, not to mention a pretty good golfer too.

He left too soon as is often the case, but theThirsty Night Golf League will tee it up and shoot a round and have round for George on Thursday nights.  .

George showing us his better side.
